Course duration and cost

Each apprenticeship standard is allocated a different length of time and cost.

The government provides 95-100% of this cost depending on whether you are a levy payer. For more information, see our Employer Support page.

We have shared all of the course costs on our website.

Course structure

What does the training include?

The apprenticeship programme will take place over a set amount of time depending on the standard, and will be made up of training time and then a short period of time for the apprentice to be assessed for whether they pass the standard or not. This is referred to as “Gateway” and “End point assessment”.

The end point assessment will require time for preparation, where the assessment itself can be a combination of extended observation (usually 3 hours), tests, and professional discussion and questioning.

The standard itself will be made up of several modules, sometimes referred to as duties, within which there will be a range of knowledge, skills, and behaviours that the apprentices will be trained on, and will have to demonstrate and record evidence of.

Expectations of an employer

To develop an apprentice most effectively into a skilled and experienced member of your workforce, they must have support from the company they work within.

In addition to the training and support WEBS will give the apprentice, a majority of the apprentice’s time will be in employment which is where most of their practical training and experience will take place – building on the skills they have learnt and developed during their training from WEBS.

In addition to this, there are government requirement of a business when they take on an apprentice:

  • Apprentice must be given 30 hours a week minimum of working and learning hours
  • Apprentice must be allowed 20% of their weekly hours dedicated to developing their learning – their time at the training centre is included in this
  • Apprentice must receive training at work
  • Apprentice must have a supervisor, or workplace mentor, who will their main point of contact in their training

This might look like a lot on paper, but this will all fall into place naturally as you support and train your new employee in their brand new career.

Taking on an apprentice is a rewarding experience with many organisations stating that by having an apprentice they were positively contributing to their industry.

Private Training

Not able to commit to expectations of an apprenticeship?

If the above expectations are something that your organisation is not able to commit to right now, but you think your team (experienced or not!) might benefit from some training by WEBS, then our private training offer might be better suited to you.

Our private training is as flexible as you need it to be, with no extended time commitments.

We can offer training at your company, or book in to have your training take place at our training centre – as little or as often as you’d like it.
